Roles and Responsibilities

The Technical Advisor is responsible for the following duties, ensuring all tasks are performed in accordance with company standards, procedures, and the regulations of Malaysia. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct a critical review of outstanding remedial work lists submitted to customers, ensuring tasks are necessary and reasonable.
  • Review and approve Monthly Performance Engine Monitoring Reports and Field Maintenance Reports after discussions with relevant personnel.
  • Provide clarification on Monthly Performance Engine Monitoring Reports for customers, as needed.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to reporting structures and procedures to meet customer expectations.
  • Mentor team members to enhance their skills and knowledge through one-on-one discussions, focusing on gas turbines and related systems.
  • Perform site visits for large, planned workscopes, offering technical support and mentoring team members on-site.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and the company, ensuring customer expectations are met and critical action items are effectively managed.
  • Participate in routine technical meetings to provide support and resolve technical issues for team members.
  • Approve training modules for team members to ensure accuracy and relevance, enhancing knowledge of plant and equipment.
  • Act as a support contact for team members in need of further technical assistance on specific issues.
  • Implement continuous improvement policies and procedures for team services provided to customers.
  • Assist in obtaining internationally recognized accreditation for services provided by the team.
  • Recommend improvements to customer plant and equipment to optimize operability and performance.
  • Support technical clarification meetings with customers regarding upgrades or modification proposals.

Personal Requirements

The Technical Advisor must have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Proven engineering background in the upstream oil and gas industry, preferably in a managerial role.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience with operations and maintenance of industrial gas turbines, particularly aero-derivative gas turbines, including turbine support equipment.
  • Strong background in mechanical and control disciplines.
  • Relevant engineering degree.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in English (both oral and written) to interact effectively with a multinational workforce in Malaysia and abroad.
  • Ability to accurately analyze equipment issues and provide sound advice for resolution.
  • Qualified to meet health and safety standards for offshore travel in Malaysia.
  • Proficient in a variety of software tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams, Outlook, Power BI, and Salesforce.
  • In-depth knowledge of P&ID diagrams, engineering drawings, and BOM lists.
  • Experience in managing and giving presentations in meetings with customers and contractors.
  • Minimum of five years in a customer-supporting and client-facing role.
