Job Purpose:

The Site Superintendent - Electrical Discipline will provide critical supervision and oversight on the Zuluf AM Upgrade Ph-II Project. The project focuses on upgrading wellhead platforms and installing Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs) for enhanced field capacity. The role will ensure that electrical works align with design specifications and safety standards while monitoring the contractor’s progress, quality, and adherence to applicable engineering and safety standards.


Project Overview:

The Zuluf AM Upgrade Ph-II involves the upgrade of 21 wellhead platforms, including 3 tie-in platforms, with the installation of 140 ESPs. The electrical scope also includes the installation of 8 subsea flow lines (23km) and 22 15kV composite submarine power cables (112km). Specific areas of responsibility in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah include upgrading the electrical systems of the platforms and subsea facilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Electrical Systems: Oversee the fabrication and installation of electrical systems, including Power Distribution Transformers, motors, generators, HV/LV switchgear, MCCs, and control systems.

  • Review Electrical Design Packages: Assess the design documentation for electrical systems, ensuring it aligns with Saudi Aramco’s standards (SAES, SAMSS) and other relevant international codes.

  • Ensure Quality and Safety: Monitor the electrical engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with quality standards, HSE regulations, and project objectives.

  • Coordination with Stakeholders: Work closely with the Project Manager, EPC contractors, and engineering teams to ensure smooth coordination and execution of electrical systems.

  • Design Basis and Load Lists: Prepare the Project Design Basis Document and generate load lists for the project scope.

  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT): Participate in the FAT for key electrical equipment and systems, ensuring they meet all project specifications.

  • Procurement Support: Assist with the evaluation of material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and contractor recommendations.

  • Change Order Management: Review and evaluate change orders for compliance with design standards and project budget.

  • Technical Assurance: Provide technical assurance for all electrical discipline deliverables, ensuring compliance with standards and operational requirements.

  • Improvement Solutions: Lead the identification and implementation of improvement solutions to optimize electrical installations or modifications.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience: 10-15 years of electrical engineering experience, with a focus on design, construction, and engineering in offshore or industrial facilities. Experience with Saudi Aramco standards is preferred.

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Certified Engineer status is desirable.

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with NEC, IEEE/ANSI, IEC standards and electrical best practices. Proficiency in Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP) or similar software and all Microsoft Office tools.

  • Control Systems: Knowledge of analogue and digital control systems, including Power System Automation (PSA), DCS, PLC, and SCADA controls.

  • Communication Skills: Strong proficiency in English, with the ability to perform technical analysis and present findings clearly.

  • Safety Focus: Strong commitment to safety, with a focus on risk management, HSE, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
