Senior Mechanical Engineer – Buildings & Infrastructure Projects
Location: Qatar (Residential – Single Status)
Contract Type: 1-Year Secondment (Extendable)
Work Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off, 8 hours per day
Work Arrangement: Day rate + Allowances

Job Purpose
A high-calibre opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the development and execution of major infrastructure and civil projects. This position requires both technical depth and leadership capabilities, supporting multi-disciplinary teams in delivering safe, compliant, and efficient mechanical engineering solutions across all project stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical services across the full project lifecycle, from concept definition through design, implementation, and technical review.

  • Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering design activities, ensuring adherence to relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.

  • Conduct engineering studies, prepare and verify engineering deliverables, and provide technical evaluations of bids.

  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and external organisations to ensure scope clarity, technical compliance, and timely resolution of issues.

  • Oversee the development and review of multi-disciplinary work scopes and ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Support engineering standards governance, technical assurance activities, and quality control of design deliverables.

  • Review and approve method statements and deviation requests, ensuring technical integrity and compliance.

  • Promote adherence to environmental, process, and safety engineering policies.

  • Provide structured support for training and development of junior team members and Qatari engineers.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • MMUP Grade A certification preferred.

  • Certified QMS Lead Auditor (ISO 9001:2015) and knowledge of local standards advantageous.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in mechanical engineering within large-scale building, infrastructure, or civil projects.

  • Strong command of piping/mechanical analysis tools such as CAESAR II and drafting tools like AutoCAD.

  • Experience in 3D modelling of piping systems is a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of international codes, standards, and project engineering practices.

  • Proven ability to manage engineering activities in a multi-project environment with tight deadlines and diverse teams.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision while guiding teams across various project disciplines.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Evaluate vendor technical qualifications and performance.

  • Contribute to external FEED/EPIC engineering and scheduling coordination.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across projects.

  • Drive competency development within the engineering team, particularly for national development programmes.
