Location: Gijón, Asturias, Spain (Hybrid – remote work with business travel as required)
Contract: Initial contract until December 31, 2025, with an expectation of extension

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer with expertise in instrumentation, industrial networks, Fire Alarm Systems (FAS), CCTV, and Access Control. This role will be integral in the design, integration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for a greenfield battery project in Spain. The successful candidate will ensure that all systems meet performance, reliability, and industry compliance standards while working closely with EPCM partners and cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • EPCM Lead: Serve as the primary point of contact for I&C-related discussions with the EPCM partner, ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices.
  • Instrumentation & Control: Design, implement, and maintain control systems for industrial applications, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Industrial Networks: Manage the design and implementation of secure industrial networks for reliable data transmission across control and safety systems.
  • Fire Alarm Systems (FAS): Configure and integrate fire alarm systems within the plant’s safety and control infrastructure.
  • CCTV & Access Control: Design and implement security systems, ensuring alignment with plant-wide safety protocols.
  • Siemens DCS: Configure, operate, and troubleshoot Siemens Distributed Control Systems (DCS) (e.g., PCS7) to ensure seamless integration with plant-wide monitoring and automation.
  • System Integration & Optimization: Ensure the smooth integration of FAS, CCTV, and Access Control with other plant systems, optimizing performance for safety, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all designs, installations, and maintenance activities align with local, company, and international regulations, implementing mitigation solutions where necessary.
  • Business Travel: Travel to suppliers (mainly Barcelona and abroad) for FAT witness tests and technical clarifications (expenses covered by the company).

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or Control Systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in instrumentation & control systems, industrial networks, and security systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Siemens DCS systems (PCS7) and associated hardware/software.
  • Hands-on experience with Fire Alarm Systems (FAS), CCTV, and Access Control technologies.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with industrial network protocols (Ethernet, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Spanish industry standards and IEC regulations.
  • Basic understanding of HAZOP and SIL (Safety Integrity Level) principles.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
  • Experience with safety instrumentation and SIL-rated systems.

Languages

  • Fluent in Spanish & English (mandatory).

Contract & Benefits
