Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur (KL Sentral)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer to join a dynamic team delivering custom-designed and fabricated process packages for the Oil & Gas, Refinery, and Petrochemical industries. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality detailed engineering design, instrumentation, and control systems for offshore and onshore projects.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

  • Lead the detailed engineering design of skidded and EPCC process systems.
  • Develop electrical, instrumentation, and control system designs that comply with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Prepare and review key instrumentation deliverables, including:
    • Instrument Index, Datasheets, I/O Schedule
    • Alarm & Trip Setting List, Cable Schedule, JB Wiring Diagram
    • System Block Diagram, Hook-Up Drawing, Layouts
    • Cause & Effect Matrix, Control Narrative
    • Material Take-Off (MTO) for bulk materials

Project Coordination & Compliance

  • Work closely with the Project Manager to understand the full scope of work and execute detailed engineering activities for E&I systems.
  • Ensure all designs and installations align with contract specifications, project schedules, and safety regulations.
  • Review and interpret project-related specifications to ensure compliance.

Technical Reviews & Evaluations

  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, SIL assessments, and model reviews.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations and provide input for vendor selection.
  • Review and assess instrumentation package vendor data for accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in E&I engineering within the oil & gas, refinery, or petrochemical industries.
  • Strong background in detailed engineering design for skidded and EPCC process systems.
  • Expertise in instrumentation and related electrical components, including P&ID checks, block & loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
  • Experience with RFQ preparation, technical clarifications, and bid evaluations.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in instrumentation, control systems, and electrical design.
