Senior E&I Designer

Assignment Type: Contract to Permanent Hire – 6 months initial contract, with the possibility of permanent hire.
Location: Olen, Belgium (2 days remote work allowed per week)
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday

We are partnering with a leading multinational materials technology company to recruit a Senior E&I Designer for an exciting project related to battery technology and various other industrial brownfield projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals in the Electrical, Automation, and Electromechanics fields to contribute to innovative and impactful projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate client requirements into technical designs for E&I and Automation hardware for industrial projects, from concept through to execution.
  • Ensure the correct production of electrical diagrams by E&I draftsmen, and make minor changes using tools such as EPLAN P8 when required.
  • Create and validate technical reports, including cable calculations, ATEX, heat dissipation, and SIL analysis.
  • Advise on risk analysis and incorporate appropriate measures into the designs.
  • Prepare technical specifications, request and evaluate quotes from suppliers.
  • Develop the budget for the E&I discipline and participate in purchasing activities.
  • Assist in project planning, ensuring that contractors receive clear task allocations and instructions.
  • Oversee work performed by internal teams and external contractors, reviewing any design changes or queries.
  • Evaluate the quality of deliverables, ensuring they meet design specifications and expectations.
  • Monitor project timelines, addressing any deviations from the plan.
  • Manage project documentation, ensuring proper updates from work preparation to as-built technical files.
  • Provide ongoing support during project execution and startup, working closely with the commissioning team.

Technical Profile Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Electromechanics.
  • Extensive experience in E&I projects within an industrial environment.
  • Deep knowledge of applicable regulations and standards (e.g., ATEX, SIL, LVD, EMC, MDR, AREI).
  • Proficiency in using software tools such as CANECO, EPLAN P8, and other tools for SIL/PL/Exi calculations.
  • Strong skills in MS Office and experience with process and machine risk analysis techniques.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry and mechanical engineering concepts.

Non-Technical Profile Requirements

  • Fluent in both Dutch and English (spoken and written).
  • Basic knowledge of French and German is a plus for reporting and communication.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of liaising with stakeholders at all levels.

Certification

  • VCA certification is mandatory.

Location & Work Schedule

  • On-site in Olen, Belgium during the initial phase (full-time on-site presence required).
  • Minimum 3 days/week on-site presence is mandatory.
  • After initial project startup, 2 days of remote work per week are allowed.
