Overview
As the global energy sector accelerates toward a lower-carbon future, our client—a leading energy consultancy—is expanding its environmental and engineering teams to meet the demands of energy transition and decarbonisation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking business working across the UK and international markets, with a strong focus on renewable energies, energy efficiency, and carbon management.

This role would suit an experienced environmental or energy engineer seeking to make a tangible impact on decarbonisation strategy and emissions management, while contributing to technically complex and meaningful projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in managing the Energy Management portfolio, including ISO 50001, ESOS compliance, and related energy reduction initiatives

  • Provide technical input and mentor junior engineers across energy and emissions scopes

  • Contribute to the identification and assessment of decarbonisation opportunities such as methane reduction, flare management, and integration of renewable energy solutions

  • Support delivery of UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) compliance activities

  • Liaise with clients to ensure delivery aligns with scope, timeline, and budget expectations

  • Review engineering design documents in the context of environmental impacts and emissions management

  • Plan and facilitate energy and emissions workshops with internal and external stakeholders

About You

  • Degree qualified in an environmental, engineering, or relevant scientific discipline

  • Experience in a similar role, ideally with a background in consulting or project delivery

  • Working knowledge of ESOS; Lead Assessor accreditation is advantageous

  • Familiarity with international best practices in emissions reduction and reporting (e.g., OGMP 2.0, ERAPs)

  • Knowledge of UK/EU Emissions Trading Scheme and associated compliance activities

  • Understanding of pollution control and mitigation techniques is preferred

  • Experience in energy, renewables, or oil and gas sectors is beneficial, but not essential

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

This is a unique opportunity to shape and influence environmental performance within a supportive and innovative organisation. If you’re passionate about emissions reduction and sustainability within the energy sector, we’d love to hear from you.
