QC Inspector - Piping (Brownfield)
Location: Offshore / Site-based, Qatar
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (until end of 2025)
Work Schedule: Offshore rotation or site-based, depending on project phase
We are looking for a highly qualified QC Inspector with a strong background in piping inspections within the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will oversee the quality control of construction activities, including welding and testing, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.
Qualifications Required
- Mechanical Engineering degree and/or diploma with experience in quality control in a multi-discipline construction environment
- CSWIP 3.2, AWS Sr. Welding Inspector, BGAS Grade 2, or NACE Level 2 and ASNT NDT Level II Certification (or equivalent certifications from internationally recognised organisations)
- Membership with a recognised professional institution is an advantage
Experience Required
- 10 years of experience for graduate engineers and 15 years for diploma holders in similar positions within the oil and gas sector (experience in the GCC region is desirable)
- Hands-on experience with CRA Clad / Lined Pipelines, flowlines, and exotic materials (DSS, SDSS, Ni, Cr, etc.) in welding inspection/testing
- Strong knowledge of international standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, NACE, DIN, and others related to materials and mechanical construction
- Experience in quality control and testing requirements in major oil and gas/petrochemical construction projects
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment
Key Responsibilities
- Implement elements of the project's quality management system relevant to piping construction
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations on site
- Coordinate and attend inspections, tests, and punch listing on behalf of the project
- Familiarise with project-specific documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirements
- Implement quality inspection procedures for construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications
- Ensure that contractor documentation for inspections, tests, surveillance, and surveys meets the requirements of the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and project specifications
- Complete relevant forms and reports on inspections and tests undertaken by the contractor, and maintain inspection records
- Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and project stakeholders
- Ensure calibration of all measuring and testing equipment, maintaining accurate records
- Perform surveillance of construction activities, identifying and addressing non-conformances and proposing corrective actions
- Liaise with other Field Supervisors and contractors to ensure proper planning and execution of inspections (e.g., NDE)
- Assist the Senior QA/QC Engineer in reviewing and approving contractor QA/QC documents such as QCPs, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, personnel qualifications, Material Approval Requests (MARs), MRBs, and project dossiers
- Monitor contractor fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing activities related to structural steel, process piping, tanks, and heaters
- Witness and verify inspections and testing activities related to welding, NDT, PWHT, hardness testing, alloy verification, painting, etc.
- Monitor the performance of special processes, personnel, and contractor controls, and report concerns to the Senior QA/QC Engineer
- Participate in the receiving inspection of permanent materials and verify associated documentation for traceability
- Follow up on corrective actions to close out non-conformances
- Monitor trends in non-compliance to quality requirements and provide feedback on contractor performance
- Initiate surveillance and NCRs for Senior QA/QC Engineer approval
- Maintain relevant QA/QC documents and records

- Strong technical knowledge of piping inspections, welding, and NDT within brownfield oil and gas projects
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify non-conformances and implement corrective measures
- Proactive in ensuring quality and safety standards are met on construction sites
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in a multidisciplinary environment
