QC Engineer – Welding, NDT & Painting
Location: Residential role – Qatar (Single status)
Contract Type: 1-year extendable
Start Date: As per mobilisation schedule
Work Arrangement: Day rate + allowances

Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced QC Engineer specialising in Welding, NDT, and Painting to join a major offshore oil and gas project. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary inspection and quality control teams across fabrication yards, construction sites, and offshore installations, ensuring the highest standards of compliance with international and project-specific quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all QA/QC activities performed by contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and third-party inspectors across various stages of fabrication and installation.

  • Ensure implementation of project-specific quality documentation, including quality plans, ITPs, checklists, and control procedures.

  • Lead and coordinate inspection activities in welding, NDT, coating, painting, internal lining, and Monel sheathing across platforms, subsea pipelines, and structural elements.

  • Monitor and evaluate contractor/vendor adherence to approved quality requirements and standards.

  • Serve as the focal point for site-related QC issues and interface with the client’s senior quality team to resolve concerns promptly.

  • Control and track technical deviations, material substitutions, inspection requirements, and ensure proper documentation and approvals are in place.

  • Review and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.

  • Ensure all inspection and test records are properly maintained and final test packs and dossiers are completed for submission.

  • Provide daily reporting on QA/QC status and findings to the client’s quality engineering team.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • BSc in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.

  • CSWIP 3.2 or AWS CWI (Senior Welding Inspector) certification.

  • BGAS-CSWIP Grade 1 or NACE Level II for painting/coating inspection.

  • NDT Level II in RT and UT (in accordance with applicable project standards).

  • ISO 9001:2015 QMS Lead Auditor certification with minimum two years of post-certification experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of QA/QC experience in the offshore oil and gas sector.

  • Strong leadership experience managing inspection teams for fabrication, construction, and offshore installation.

  • In-depth understanding of offshore construction techniques, including sour service, CRA/cladded piping, welding, coating, and repair methodologies.

  • Previous involvement in quality oversight for large-scale process platforms and subsea pipeline projects.

  • Familiarity with international standards, project specifications, and quality management systems used by major operators.

  • Experience working with offshore service providers and third-party inspection agencies.
