Process Safety Engineer
Location: Stockholm, Sweden
Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

We are currently supporting a forward-thinking organisation at the cutting edge of sustainable industrial development. This company is in the process of constructing a major production facility in Northern Sweden that aims to redefine the environmental footprint of the industry.

As part of their continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their dynamic and diverse team. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a landmark project that combines advanced technology, sustainability, and large-scale industrial innovation.

Role Overview
The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the design with a focus on machinery, process safety, and fire safety. You will ensure the production facility is designed in accordance with relevant legislation, industry best practices, and operational requirements. The position involves working closely with internal project teams, engineering contractors, equipment manufacturers, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and providing feedback on design documentation

  • Coordinating safety-related topics with external engineering partners

  • Ensuring consistent safety design principles are applied across the site

  • Leading and contributing to risk assessments and safety studies

  • Developing and maintaining safety tools and systems within the project

  • Supporting internal teams on safety-related matters throughout project phases

  • Collaborating with external regulatory and compliance bodies where required

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline such as Chemical, Mechanical, or Fire Engineering (BSc or MSc)

  • 10–15 years of experience in gas processing or similar industries, with a strong emphasis on process engineering and process safety

  • Proven experience in industrial safety design

  • Solid understanding of commonly used safety study methodologies

  • Familiarity with industrial permitting processes and local safety legislation

  • Additional value-adding experience in areas such as functional safety and ATEX is desirable
