Role Purpose:

To contribute as part of a process safety team on proposals or projects, collaborating across departments to manage Major Accident Hazards (MAHs) and prevent Major Accident Events (MAEs) throughout a facility’s lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and review of HSSE Design Philosophy and other process safety-related philosophies, ensuring compliance with company standards, client expectations, and regulatory safety requirements.

  • Assist in preparing the scope of work, perform technical bid evaluations for safety consultants, and participate in safety workshops. Plan, review, and deliver safety studies to demonstrate that risks are reduced to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).

  • Organize Bow-Ties workshops, define Safety Critical Elements (SCEs), communicate performance standard requirements, and ensure that SCEs are designed, procured, and installed to meet the required performance standards.

  • Coordinate with risk consultants/subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely completion of risk assessments within budget and scope.

  • Collaborate with various disciplines to collect risk input data, prepare deliverables, review project documentation, and manage deviations from safety standards.

  • Contribute to achieving yearly or project-specific Engineering Performance Goals.

  • Ensure compliance with the Management of Change Procedure to mitigate risks associated with project changes.

  • Communicate effectively with clients to address hazard management concerns and ensure client satisfaction.

  • Identify and communicate lessons learned for better management of MAHs.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies and ethical standards.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in process safety engineering within the oil and gas industry for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
