Power System Studies Engineer
Location: Surrey, UK (Office-Based, 5 Days per Week, Hybrid Working Possible)
Contract Duration: 12 Months (Immediate Start)
IR35 Status: Likely Outside IR35 (Final Decision Pending Qdos Assessment)
About the Role:
An excellent opportunity is available for a Power System Studies Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting both onshore and offshore projects. This position focuses on conducting power system studies and overseeing third-party vendors to ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform power system studies for projects involving local power generation, renewable power (including BESS), and grid connections up to 220kV.
- Conduct a variety of studies, including equipment sizing, load flow, short circuit, dynamic motor starting, harmonic analysis, arc flash, transient stability, and protection coordination.
- Oversee third-party vendors delivering power system studies, ensuring that project specifications and requirements are met.
- Utilise advanced software such as ETAP and EMT for conducting power system analysis.
- Provide technical expertise, analysis, and recommendations to ensure that the power systems comply with industry standards and meet project objectives.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions within project timelines.
Key Requirements:
- Strong experience in power system studies for both onshore and offshore projects.
- Proficiency in using ETAP software for power system analysis.
- Experience working with grid connections, renewable power, and high-voltage systems up to 220kV.
- Knowledge of EMT software and experience in overseeing third-party studies.
- Ability to conduct a range of studies, including load flow, short circuit, transient stability, protection coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical solutions.
