Mechanical QC Inspector – LNG Construction

Location: Sohar, Muscat, Oman
Employment term: Contract-based

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical QC Inspector to oversee quality control and assurance activities on a major LNG construction project. Reporting to the Site Quality Lead, this role ensures compliance with contractual and technical requirements across the construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and supervise Mechanical QC activities carried out by contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project standards.
  • Review and approve drawings, fabrication procedures, and methodologies to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Verify that contractors have the necessary resources, equipment, and manpower to meet project specifications.
  • Provide daily reports on quality performance, challenges, and progress to the Site Quality Lead.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and construction meetings, ensuring alignment with QA/QC and HSE requirements.
  • Assist in the review and approval of project documentation, including Quality Plans, Construction Plans, and Fabrication Drawings.
  • Support the Site Construction team and coordinate pre-commissioning activities with the Commissioning Team.
  • Promote safety awareness across all levels, maintaining a proactive approach to HSSE compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with experience in quality control in multi-discipline construction projects.
  • Formal training in QA/QC and membership in a recognised professional institution is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of welding, painting/coating, and NDT techniques.
  • Experience with construction audits, contractor management, and risk assessment.
  • Prior experience in LNG construction and an understanding of relevant international standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Email) and construction-related software.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team in a multicultural environment.
