Role Overview

The Marketing Engineer manages feedstock supply and refined product contracts, ensuring commitments, obligations, and deadlines are met. This role involves executing delivery plans with partners and customers, optimizing operations, and maintaining high customer satisfaction levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Oversee feedstock (e.g., crude, sales gas) and refined product contracts, collaborating with suppliers, off-takers, and customers to prepare lifting plans.
  • Deviation Management: Address discrepancies in quantity, quality, and price adjustments with internal teams.
  • Nominations: Prepare and issue monthly and yearly product nominations to maximize revenue.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to supply and sales agreement terms. Participate in claims resolution when deviations occur.
  • Delivery Performance: Track and evaluate product delivery performance, focusing on customer satisfaction.
  • Demurrage Analysis: Monitor and analyze demurrage costs for specialty products, such as petcoke.
  • Pricing Strategy: Understand and compute feedstock and refined product pricing methodologies.
  • System Updates: Maintain accurate purchase and sales data in SAP, ensuring efficient invoicing processes.
  • Invoice Accuracy: Collaborate with finance to verify invoicing accuracy for feedstock and refined products.
  • Stock Optimization: Ensure crude supply aligns with refinery stock targets.
  • Customer Surveys: Contribute to customer satisfaction surveys and subsequent action plans.
  • Performance Metrics: Monitor customer performance, particularly for specialty products like petcoke and propylene, to recommend improvements.
  • Daily Coordination: Coordinate daily operational matters with the scheduling team for specialty products and crude supply.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of commercial and operational activities.
  • Backup Duties: Act as a backup for the refined product engineer when necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to optimize operations and relationships.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Marketing Head.

  • High levels of customer and partner satisfaction with efficiently managed contracts.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years in marketing, technical roles, or production planning in a refinery setting.

Skills:

  • Proficient in contract language, refining economics, and process optimization.
  • Strong understanding of refining processes, blending, scheduling, and shipping operations.
  • Effective communication and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for making sound operational and economic decisions.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
