Job Title: Lead Utilities Engineer
Assignment Type: Annual Renewable Contract

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday / 8 hours per day
Kintec are currently partnered with a pioneering Green Steel Production Company who are constructing a plant in Northern Sweden that will produce Green Steel - Green Steel production emits up to 95% less CO ₂ compared conventional steel production.
We are seeking a Lead Utilities Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience to take ownership of the utility system integration in our Boden project. The candidate will be responsible for the sitewide process integration of the various utility systems in the project through development of process standards and guidelines and ensuring the project delivers a safe and operable plant. This role requires strong process engineering, interface management and knowledge about Swedish regulations and standards.
The Lead Utilities Engineer reports to the Central Engineering Manager and ensures that the integration of the utility systems are designed in a safe, operable and cost efficient way. The Lead Utilities Engineer will lead a small team of process engineers and will together with the team follow up on the key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Utility Process Integration Ownership
- Process integration of the following utility systems; Steam, Condensate, Industrial water, Demineralized water, Cooling water, Nitrogen, Argon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Natural Gas
- Develop, update, and maintain the Process Utility Standards (Client internal standards) to ensure consistency and quality.
- Ensure relevant utility system descriptions exist and are correct and up to date (site wide process descriptions, block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, gas balance).
- Resolve identified cross-area discrepancies and issues and follow up on implementation of solution.
- Participation in interfacing HAZOPs related to utility systems
- Design Development
- Support EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) teams and consultants in developing an optimized and safe process design.
- Collect and define user gas requirements and specifications.
- Review EPCM, OEM and Consultants drawings, models and process documentation related to gases (e.g. P&ID, utility balances).
- Coordination and Communication
- Collaborate with Client Area process engineers to ensure consistent application of standards over the areas.
- Collaborate with EPCM teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate and review process designs related to gas integration from a site-wide perspective.
- Regulatory and Compliance Leadership
- Ensure compliance with Swedish laws and regulations
- Travel and Flexibility
- Be willing to travel to the project site (Boden) and other EPCM offices as required for meetings, inspections, and project reviews.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in process engineering, with proven experience in industrial projects such as Material & Mining Industry, Oil & Gas industry, Pulp & Paper Industry or Automotive and Battery Manufacturing Industry. Experience working with gases (Nitrogen, Argon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Natural gas)
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in Swedish is a strong advantage.
- Technical Skills: Process Engineering. Gases & Utility. Swedish standards and regulations.
- Soft Skills: Collaborative, strong communication and coordination skills.
