Job Title: Lead Technical Safety Engineer

Location: Qatar (Office of UK-based Company)
Salary: Housing Allowance + School Allowance + Travel Allowance
Projects: Oil & Gas / Hydrogen / CCS / Decarbonisation

A market-leading advisory company, specializing in providing technical and advisory services to the global energy industry. The company focuses on cutting-edge energy solutions in Oil & Gas, Hydrogen, CCS, and Decarbonisation projects.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Extensive Experience: Demonstrate deep expertise in Technical Safety, Risk and Loss Prevention, and RAM studies.

  • Leadership in Safety Workshops: Proven experience in leading and participating in formal safety workshops, such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL/LOPA studies.

  • Risk Studies Execution: Skilled in executing risk studies such as QRA, FERA, and EERA, with proficiency in risk-based design and ALARP demonstration.

  • Loss Prevention Design: Expertise in Loss Prevention design, which includes Active and Passive Fire Protection, Blast Protection, F&G Systems, Hazardous Area Classification, and the creation of design drawings.

  • Regulatory Understanding: Strong understanding of the UK regulatory framework, including the development of Safety Case and COMAH documentation.

  • Broad Project Environment: A keen interest in growing within a broad project environment, utilizing a creative approach to problem-solving and technical challenges.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or Master’s in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience, with most of that time spent with consultancies or operators in the upstream oil & gas sector.

  • Safety Engineering and Technical Integrity experience within a major oil & gas organization.

  • Functional Safety Certification and HAZOP Leader certification are highly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and guidelines related to safety engineering.

  • Expertise in scenario-based risk assessments, QRA, FERA, SECE identification, performance standards, and barrier development.

  • Experience in Digitalisation in the context of safety engineering.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and facilitation skills.

  • Collaboration: Effective at working with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring that safety requirements are understood and integrated across all project phases.
