Job Title: Instrumentation Designer

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Contract Term: 12 months

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Designer with experience in FEED & EPC projects to join a dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing instrumentation engineering drawings, design documents, and calculations in line with client requirements and international industry standards.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale projects, leveraging expertise in CAD software and 3D modelling tools to deliver high-quality, efficient designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instrumentation Design & Drafting
    • Develop instrumentation drawings, material take-offs (MTOs), and schedules.
    • Prepare detailed engineering documents, ensuring alignment with project scope and industry best practices.
  • Technical Deliverables
    • Generate and manage input/output lists, equipment lists, control room arrangements, field instrumentation layouts, and cable tray routing designs.
    • Develop loop diagrams, termination diagrams, cable schedules, installation details, and as-built documentation.
    • Design hook-up drawings and typical installation details.
  • 3D Modelling & Software Utilisation
    • Perform 3D modelling of instrumentation components, including junction boxes, local panels, and tapping points.
    • Utilise software such as SPI, AVEVA, SP3D, and E3D (experience with at least two is required).
    • Work with PDMS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation as needed.
  • Collaboration & Site Coordination
    • Undertake site visits for data collection, reporting site queries to the lead engineer.
    • Work closely with senior designers and specialist engineers to ensure project requirements and schedules are met.
    • Provide inputs for proposal preparation, including preliminary I/O lists, man-hour estimations, and equipment layouts.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure designs adhere to industry codes, standards, and project specifications.
    • Maintain accuracy in material take-offs and ensure compliance with CAD software standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in a relevant field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in instrumentation and control design for FEED & EPC projects.
  • Strong expertise in SPI and SP3D software.
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: SPI, AVEVA, SP3D, E3D.
  • Knowledge of PDMS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to take on challenges.
  • Candidates currently based in the UAE are preferred.
