Instrument Engineer – LNG FEED Project

Location: Surrey, UK (Office-Based, 5 Days per Week)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Instrument Engineer to join a dynamic team working on an LNG FEED project. This role will play a key part in the development and execution of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) designs during the early-phase project deliverables. You will be responsible for creating key documentation and supporting the design of process control systems for an onshore facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop preliminary and final stage Instrumentation & Control (I&C) design deliverables, including P&IDs, Instrument Lists, Instrument Specifications, and Instrument Data Sheets.
  • Work on early project phases such as Concept and FEED, ensuring design alignments with project requirements.
  • Design process control systems, using DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems.
  • Ensure instrumentation for custody metering meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare budgetary requisitions and assist with bid evaluations for instrumentation procurement.
  • Contribute to the development of Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) and demonstrate expertise in IEC 61508 & IEC 61511 safety standards.
  • Perform automation-related tasks, including creating I/O lists, Instrumentation lists, and specifying instrumentation and control elements.
  • Provide expertise on the integration and interface of Electrical and Instrumentation systems.
  • Work on greenfield onshore projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Key Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, ideally within a consultant engineering company, machinery manufacturer, or end-user company.
  • Strong background in gas processing or LNG projects, covering conceptual, pre-FEED, and FEED phases.
  • Proficiency in instrumentation design and process control systems, with experience in DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of custody metering standards and relevant instrumentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 & IEC 61511 safety standards and their application in project work.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-discipline teams to deliver solutions.
