Instrument and Controls Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Instrument and Controls Engineer to contribute to a high-profile engineering project. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in instrumentation, control systems, and functional safety, seeking a challenging contract position within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation & Control Design: Minimum of two years’ experience in instrumentation (preferred) or control system design, with a strong understanding of engineering drawings relevant to the discipline.

Hazardous Areas Compliance: Design and specification of electrical equipment for hazardous areas, with experience following CompEx 12A & 12B processes (certification preferred but not essential).

Functional Safety: Design of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and safety instrumented functions (SIF), including SIL verification calculations (TÜV certification preferred but not essential).

Engineering Lifecycle: Hands-on experience in front-end design, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), installation, and commissioning.

Control Systems: Proficiency in at least two of the five programming languages used in industrial automation and control, with a strong understanding of their application.

Risk Management: Active participation in HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, Permit to Work, and RAMS assessments.

Contractor Management: Development of work specifications, contract agreements, and supervision of contractors.

Procurement & Documentation: Specification of equipment (data sheets), raising purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, and reviewing QA documentation.

Operations & Maintenance Support: Troubleshooting and field support (advantageous but not essential).
Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Control, or Electrical Engineering.

Proven experience in a process industry, energy, or infrastructure setting.

Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for instrumentation and control systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
