HSE Prevention Officer
Location: Saint-Avold, France

Contract Duration: June 23 to September 12, 2025 (with potential for extension)
Working Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day (day or night shifts); occasional Saturday work
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSE Prevention Officer to join a high-profile power generation maintenance project in the Grand Est region of France. This role will be based on-site at a large combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station during a critical shutdown and maintenance period, supporting health, safety, and environmental performance across complex operations.
Project Context
The assignment supports a major industrial maintenance campaign involving two generation units and shared infrastructure. This is a technically demanding site requiring strict adherence to safety protocols, operational coordination, and proactive HSE engagement across multiple disciplines including mechanical, electrical, scaffolding, and lifting operations.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine site inspections and safety awareness activities across all work areas

Support accident and incident investigations as required, ensuring thorough analysis and follow-up

Participate in cross-disciplinary coordination meetings to reinforce a strong HSE culture

Assist the site HSE Manager with safety briefings, documentation, and compliance monitoring

Monitor the application of best practices across high-risk activities, including confined spaces, hot works, lifting, electrical tasks, and work at height

Engage directly with site personnel to ensure a shared understanding of HSE expectations and procedures
Required Skills and Experience

In-depth knowledge of best practices across a wide range of industrial trades (scaffolding, insulation, mechanics, piping, welding, boiler making, electrical work)

Strong understanding of high-risk activities, including lifting operations, confined space entry, hazardous substance handling, and work on energised systems

Experience in the preparation and application of Prevention Plans (PDP risk analysis)

Accredited in occupational health and safety (OHS) protocols, including scaffolding inspection and H0 B0 electrical authorisation

Familiarity with Legionella risk awareness and industrial hygiene standards

Fluent in English; French language skills would be beneficial for on-site communication

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence a diverse workforce

Capable of reviewing lifting plans, validating lifting documentation, inspecting equipment, and supervising lifting operations on-site
