Job Overview:
The Head of Engineering Section is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing engineering operations within a steel manufacturing environment. This position ensures that engineering and project activities align with operational goals, safety standards, and quality benchmarks. Reporting to the executive management team, the Head of Engineering Section will leverage extensive industry expertise to lead teams, optimize processes, and drive project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Lead the engineering department in planning, developing, and implementing engineering strategies that align with organizational objectives. Provide strategic direction to ensure the engineering team meets productivity, safety, and quality goals.
- Project Oversight: Oversee engineering projects from conceptualization through completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution. Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resources to achieve operational and strategic goals.
- Process Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement within engineering operations. Implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality standards in all engineering outputs.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure engineering practices adhere to safety regulations and industry standards. Develop and implement safety policies, promoting a culture of safety across all engineering functions.
- Team Development and Management: Build and lead a team of skilled engineers, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment. Support team development through mentorship, training, and performance management.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Provide expert guidance on technical challenges and complex engineering issues. Facilitate troubleshooting, process optimization, and technical solutions to support operations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and executive management, to ensure alignment on project objectives and operational needs.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Manage department budgets, including resource allocation, capital expenditure planning, and cost controls.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 20 years in engineering, with significant experience in a senior-level role.
- Proven experience in the steel manufacturing industry, with expertise in managing complex engineering and project functions.
