Job Title: Risk Engineer – Upstream (Remote)
Location: Remote / Global Travel

About the Role:
We are looking for experienced engineers with strong backgrounds in upstream (oil & gas, onshore/offshore) or downstream (refining, petrochemicals, chemicals) sectors to join our global risk engineering team.

This is an opportunity to work across a portfolio of energy and power assets, using your technical knowledge to help clients manage industrial risks, improve safety, and secure the best possible insurance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with global clients and internal teams to accurately reflect asset risk profiles for insurance markets

  • Conduct technical risk surveys (typically 12-14 per year for oil & gas, 15-20 for power generation)

  • Develop underwriting reports to support the placement of insurance programmes

  • Recommend process safety improvements and best practice adoption

  • Calculate Estimated Maximum Loss (EML) values using specialist software

  • Provide technical guidance for insurance tenders and renewal discussions

  • Produce thought-leadership content on key process safety and engineering topics

  • Join a team of 60+ engineers contributing to risk improvement across the energy and power sectors

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the energy or power generation industry

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage reporting deadlines and global survey schedules

  • Technical knowledge in areas such as process engineering, operations, asset integrity, process safety management, and emergency response

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working for major operators or manufacturers

  • Background in senior management or technical leadership roles

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent

  • Chartered status or eligibility (IChemE, IET, IMechE or equivalent)

  • Multilingual communication skills

  • Experience in project management and commissioning activities
