Construction Supervisor – Onshore HVDC Substation

Location: Norwich, UK | Long-Term Contract | ⏳ March 2025 – January 2026 (Potential Extension)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee the onshore construction activities of a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) substation as part of a large-scale renewable energy project. This role will involve monitoring HSE, quality, and progress while ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Onshore Substation Construction Manager in overseeing the EPC contractor and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project scope, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Monitor HSE compliance, ensuring all work follows the Permit to Work system and safety protocols.
  • Review and contribute to project deliverables, including:
    • HSE Management Plan & Program
    • Quality Assurance & Management Plans
    • Construction Phase Plan
    • Inspection Test Plans (ITP), check sheets, surveys, and reports
    • Time/progress schedules and milestone tracking
  • Conduct site inspections to verify construction activities align with approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate and manage quality control, inspections, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide progress reports and escalate any potential delays or issues to the Construction Manager.
  • Facilitate coordination between multiple stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication between contractors and the wider project team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with relevant project management experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in onshore construction supervision, preferably in high-voltage electrical infrastructure or large-scale energy projects.
  • Previous experience working with Distributed Network Operators (DNOs) or major Energy Network Providers is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in construction, commissioning, and quality management.
  • Excellent coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project interfaces.
  • Strong HSE awareness, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulations.
  • International and intercultural experience is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) with strong communication skills.
