Role Overview
The Construction Manager will oversee and manage all construction activities for a major water infrastructure project. The role includes ensuring compliance with technical specifications, maintaining safety standards, and achieving project objectives on time and within budget. The Construction Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, address on-site challenges, and report directly to the Construction Director. This position is key to successful execution in urban environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Leadership: Assist the Construction Director in planning and supervising construction activities.
- Project Alignment: Develop and oversee construction plans, ensuring they align with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Supervision: Monitor contractor performance and site activities for adherence to quality standards and technical specifications.
- Collaboration: Work with engineering and procurement teams to streamline construction processes.
- Site Management: Conduct regular inspections, address on-site challenges, and ensure safety compliance.
- Reporting: Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Risk Management: Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays.
- Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
- Safety Promotion: Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering (or related fields).
- Over 12-15 years of experience in large-scale water infrastructure projects.
- Professional accreditation or chartered membership.
Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of water infrastructure construction management principles, including scheduling and budgeting.
- Proven experience in managing urban infrastructure projects, such as pipelines, pumping stations, and tanks.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a consultancy environment.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards for water infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) systems or similar urban water projects.
