Position Title: Commissioning Lead

Location: Qatar - Onshore (65%) / Offshore (35%)

Contract Duration: 36 months (with possibility of extension)

Work Schedule: 10 hours/day, 6 days/week, 26 days/month

Start Date: ASAP

Estimated End Date: May 2028

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Commissioning Lead to join a large-scale international energy development project. This long-term position offers exposure to a complex and technically challenging environment, supporting both onshore and offshore phases of execution.

The role requires a proven leader in commissioning and system completions, able to steer multi-discipline teams and ensure seamless handover from construction to operations, in accordance with project specifications and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for commissioning and systems completions across multiple project scopes.
  • Lead the development and implementation of commissioning strategies and procedures to support project execution and safe handover.
  • Ensure that all commissioning and completions activities are aligned with key project milestones and documentation requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Completion Management System (CMS), ensuring traceability, certification, and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to contract and procedural reviews to verify readiness of commissioning systems throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide specialist input during Safety and Operability reviews and confirm application of appropriate commissioning-related safety practices.
  • Participate in on-site commissioning works, offering oversight and guidance during mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Lead the planning and execution of walkdowns, punch list resolution, and system handovers in close collaboration with contractors and operations teams.
  • Drive the implementation of operational readiness protocols to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to asset ownership.
  • Facilitate effective reporting and communication on all commissioning matters, ensuring integration with the broader project team and alignment with internal project management standards.

     

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in commissioning and systems completions within the oil and gas sector.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating across multiple contractors and disciplines to achieve systems completion objectives.
  • Familiarity with remote or offshore project environments and the demands of large-scale capital projects.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organisational abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all organisational levels.
  • Skilled in multicultural and cross-functional team environments.
  • Proficiency in office reporting tools and industry-standard completions software (e.g., ICAPS, PIMS, WinPCS).
  • Able to manage complex tasks independently and act as a technical guide for peers and team members.
  • Takes initiative to solve problems and deliver value-added solutions.
  • Understands team and stakeholder dynamics and aligns work to wider project objectives.
